My hearing aid isn't working

Is it the battery?

  • Battery life in hearing aids varies from 6 days to 1 month depending on the type of aid and battery.

  • Even with sporadic use, say 3 hours of use every week over 5 weeks, once you take the ‘sticky tag’ off   the battery the battery is running down.

Is wax caught in the sound bore?

  • If there is wax build up in the hole where the amplified sound comes out, the hearing aid won’t work. This very common problem simply means sound cannot reach your ear drum. Each hearing aid comes with instructions for removing wax.

Our easy to use information sheets can be downloaded here. You will need Acrobat Reader to open these files.

Is the aid set in the correct position?

  • The aid will seem dead if it is set to the T position

Is the volume control or ‘on’ switch in the wrong position?

Was the sticky tag left on battery when it was put in the hearing aid?

Is the aid broken? If it is, we may need to send it for repair.
