Free digital aids were released under the government scheme in February 2002. Not all clients are eligible or suited to these new aids. 

Both “in the ear” and “behind the ear“ digital models are available to ‘new’ clients under the scheme. If you are coming fresh to the scheme, Allen-Fisher Acoustics would in all likelihood fit you with digital hearing aids. Existing clients may only change hearing aids if clinical and/or medical reasons require a change in hearing aid. Some reasons may include-

• Hearing loss has increased beyond the capacity of the aid.
• Arthritis prevents use of the controls effectively.
• Aids constantly break down. 
• Client cannot manage aspects of the hearing aids such as cleaning or placement in the ear.
