What is an Automatic Hearing Aid? The aid can adjust the loudness level automatically and can to some small degree also reduce background noise. Advantages Ease of use. Many clients can use these automatic hearing aids very effectively. They are particularly good in that they optimally adjust to the speech signal always giving a comfortable level.
Disadvantages Noise can reduce the effectiveness of the hearing aids in that the speech signal is also reduced in certain levels of noise. Most effective use of this aid is particularly with a program switch, which can adjust some noise down.
Who would benefit? Most clients could do very well with automatic hearing aids. It is particularly advantageous when clients have manipulation problems such as arthritis or very reduced feeling in their fingertips for adjustment of volume controls in manual hearing aids. |
